Exhortation Video

Here is my first Sermon, in my class of Christian communication. I hope that you guys enjoy it and it sounds good. I got great reviews, being that I was a great public speaker and that I had very much impressed Pastor Jess (pastor of our entire church) Pastor Bryan (our assistant Pastor of the church), Pastor Jared (my boss and pastor) and Jerushah (The pastors Daughter and Head of the class). I will post more picture of my evaluations, the girls and I, and The house. We are headed to the beach so please pray that we will have a good time and that we will all stay safe! HUGE UPDATE Month of September!

Hey guys,

So are you ready for a huge update? Ive been hassled so many times to get this thing updated, but its literally been so busy around here that I have barely have had enough time to sleep, with the fact that school has now started and Im taking 4 theological classes, and with getting signed up for Zoe( our online schooling) for 15 more credits, so for this term not only am I taking 23 credits of classes but I'm working anywhere to 55 and more hours a week.... Talk about being busy! My week usually start out with Mondays I have off, but with living in the intern girls house, comes responsibilities of painting, cleaning and more, (Though our house parents have been really good about the fact of letting us have the day off to sleep, its really nice to sleep) Tuesdays we are in at 830am we do devotions and then its CLEANING TIME!!! it usually takes us interns about 4 hours to clean the church, we get all of our hard stuff done and then do the easy stuff after lunch. We eat lunch around 12 and then back to cleaning about 1245, then we do little projects through out the church and we are out of here at 6, then we go home and eat and watch a movie, do some homework and get ready for the next day, Wednesdays are a little bit longer, we are here at 730 in the morning and we do all the stuff that needs to be done for assignments (in my case Hope Kids and the source) I work on the assignments that my leader Whittney gives me and I have to complete those on whatever date it says. Then I also have to do all the slides for Wednesday nights (that you have seen in my early blog) Then as everyone else does the Source( youth group) I go off and babysit from 6 to 830 and then back to the church to help clean up and hang out with the interns till the last kid leaves which is usually around 10 1015 and we are usually home by 1030. ( I personally go straight to bed when I get home) Thursdays are just as long as Wednesdays, We are here at 730 and more assignments through out the day, Instead of me doing slides I cook the meal or prepare the meal for The pursuit (University Group Ages: 19-25) then University group last till about 9 and clean up at 930, Home by 10 a Clock. Fridays are not so long, we are here at 730 am and we do more assignments, ( I usually, prep the 1st-3rd class room and get the crafts ready for Sunday, making sure everything is all set up and ready to go. we stay till 6 and usually go home and eat and hang out and maybe on occasion go to the hot tub and just relax. Then Saturday another cleaning day, pretty much the same as Tuesday, Sundays we are here at 8 and we get to sit in 1 service (Unfortunately, I have not been able to sit in a service the last 3 weeks, due to some technical issues that I had to do and some spots I had to fill in at, but hopefully this Sunday, I will get to relax with all the other interns in a service) Then the week starts over! Pretty busy on my end!!!

Some of the big things that we have been doing is decorating the hallway for the Jonah Series ( Jonah Book in the Bible) Its been so much fun, Ive even have to dress up as a sailor, (I will take a picture on Sunday and post it on here for all you guys to see!) Here are some pics so you guys can see what we have done, in our Hope Kids Wing:
Hallway: Took us about 4 hours to put the streamers up!
Our big blow up whale (the interns named it Chester, dont ask me why)
Our Paper bag whales( Destiny and I made 50 of these things) Took a couple of  days to make
Our fish net, that didn't take very long to put up :)

Its been a really adventure and God has really been working with me, and helping me grow into a leader and to the person he wants me to be, its been a challenge, but I love being with the interns and being here, I really cant see myself any where else.

Well another simple little update! The house is almost COMPLETE!!! WHOO!! ( Grandma didnt think it would be done till the first of  the year) All three of the bedrooms are done and painted, (our house parents, Destiny and mine, and Andrea and Kenzi) Both of the bathrooms are done and painted! The Kitchen is painted, but needs some touch ups, we have a sink and a wall behind the sink, The living room has furniture and the TV is set up but we are going to start painting the walls and paint the fire place, And the garage still has some boxes in it but it needs to be entirely set up with furniture for the "Hang out room" and the outside needs to be painted ( but some professionals will be doing that) but other than all that the House is DONE!!!  Pictures are to come soon, when I get a chance to take a picture!

So you guys have a chance to see who Im rooming with and the Girl interns here are some pictures we have and more will be followed when we take a group picture and do more stuff together.

Starting with me, Andrea in the middle, And then Kenzi (No destiny) :(

Beau and Cierra (House parents) and Kenzi, Andrea and myself decided to go to Red Robins to get Food and Milkshakes, Destiny was at her parents so I will have pictures uploading of Destiny and I so you can see who my room mate is: it will have to be the next blog, since the pictures are not sending from my phone and I don't have my cord to send grab it off my phone and on to my computer.

Another little update, we have changed the place of our mission, We are no longer going to Puebla, Mexico, instead we are going to Romania. I'm so excited, as I have never been out of the country, or anything so it will be a whole new adventure! :)  Also, we got the Microsoft contracts, we have a lady coming to interview us next week, she will decided either all of us going or only a few of us! Pray that she will hire all of us, as all of us need the help with our finances, we make a 1,000 dollars for each conference that we do, we will be doing 3, which means half of our internship will be paid for, meaning that our monthly payment just went from 450 a month to 250 a month. It will be really nice, so keep all of us in your prayers, I will update about that after we have the interview.

Well, I think that is about it, We have University Group in about 20 mins, so I have a couple things to finish off and then off to University Group and FINALLY BED!!! ( My favorite time of the day!! Bed time!!)

Love you all and thank you for looking at my blog

Blessings

Wednesday Slides

So sorry I haven't updated its been so crazy, starting with getting the house done, late nights on Wednesdays and Thursdays, the redemption seminar ( a special event put on through Living Hope Fellowship), preparing for school, and cleaning. So its been a long busy week, but us interns are always ready for a challenge. We all work fairly well together.

Just a quick updated, we have two classes starting this next week so keep us in your prayers. Eventually as the computer lab gets done and the computers get put in. We will be taking 23 credits of schooling, 8 of the credits will be "live" with teachers. The rest of the credits will be online with a schooling called "Zoe" So keep us in your prayers as we learn to balance School, work, side jobs, and the select ministries we have chosen to be in. Also the house is almost done. The bathroom will be done Monday, and so should the kitchen as all we have left to do is paint, do the counter tops and put in the sink and then also the 3rd and back bedroom in the house. The 3rd and back bedroom will be the most work as it will need sheet rock and some new walls, but every leader has faith that it will be done in an orderly fashion. So also keep that in your prayers.

Ok as for Wednesday night slides, Wednesday nights are what we are now calling The Source ( youth group) we do announcements every Wednesdays for promotions of upcoming events or encouraging the kids to get involved in something. Like Twitter, we are encouraging everyone to follow us on twitter, if you would like to follow me my username is @KaylaHoge, Also Breakouts ( Home groups) Breakouts are more of being one on one with kids, building relationships and giving kids a free place to ask questions, and safe place to be. Also, You will see the sermons slides that i create when Pastor Jared gives his sermons.
                                                         Home Groups Promotion Slide
                                                     One of Pastor Jared's Sermons
Twitter Slide- With all of interns and Leaders Twitter Usernames

So there you go, there is an update. Hope you guys are doing well and thanks for checking out my blog!

Update

Here is an update for the last week.

All that we have been doing is working on the house, trying to get it finished, We cleaned the entire church in 2 hours on Saturday, so then we had the rest of the day off, Our longest days of the weeks are Wednesday and Thursday as we have youth group and University group.

All of the interns are getting along very well, and we all seem to really be working well together, We've learned to depend on each other for prayer, to be the intern family, eat together, work together and hang out together. Ive never grown with people so fast and be able to openly share some of my life. I really enjoy working and being around each and every one of the interns.

Keep us in your prayers, we are starting to get on a schedule and we will be starting school September 1st. So it will be really busy when things really get started. Also, keep praying that everything with the house keeps running smoothly, We are a little behind schedule, but we were updated today that both bathrooms will be done tomorrow and that the back bedroom (the one I'm NOT sleeping in) will be done the beginning of next week. So we should be moving in next week some time. So keep praying that, we move in and that the work runs smoothly.

Thanks everyone for your prayers, And for looking at my blog,

Sorry for being behind, but its been quite busy around here!

Love you guys!

Day 1 of week 2

Here we go with week 2, Tuesdays are usually one of the hardest days, we clean the entire church except the sanctuary. It took us about 5 to 6 hours to clean, that includes, an hour and a half meeting with Jared, a prayer meeting for an hour and a half an hour lunch. Usually on Tuesdays we are not done until 6 but since we had all of our cleaning done, and there were no side projects we were able to go for the day! I cant say enough about how much I enjoy being around each and every intern this year. Ive strived for friends, almost my entire life and in this little group of people, I believe Ive found friends, (besides the amazing ones that I have). Not only did I make friends, but I feel apart of a family.

When I first moved down here, my life seem to be so on track, I was so ready to start going after my dream. But as we all know some things went wrong. If I didnt have thee support of my family and the support of the Brock family. I dont think that I will be with the church or have anything to do with the internship. My life is better than i ever thought it could be. God can truly turn something horrible into something so amazing!

Well thats all for now! Thanks for looking at my blog!

Update of day 3, 4, 5, and 6

So sorry about not being able to updated my blog the last 3 days of this week, like i wanted to, but it got busy to where I was not getting home till about 1030 and had to be up early.

So Day 3 (thursday)
The girls, (Kenzi, Destiny, and myself) cleaned out the whole shed that was as big as a garage, that had an upstairs and downstairs, we organized and cleaned the whole shed and listened to music, and talked while we did our work for the day. It was really a great bonding time for the girls. We missed Andrea as she had to work but for the 3 of us it was good bonding time. After that we were assigned to do the touch up paint upstairs. After we were done with the touch up paint we were free to go home to get ready. On Thursday we had University group, which is all our college age students, students who have just graduated high school are able to attend. We had to wait for them to leave and then clean up. Which didnt allow me to be home till about 1015.

Day 4 (Friday)
We worked on the house some more, sweeping and mopping, but we also had to move the boys intern parent stuff to the church upstairs so we can start working on our living room. That was mostly our day project. Along with mopping and sweeping, wiping down walls and just bonding with everyone, we had a couple meetings with Pastor Jared before leaving. We were off at about 6pm. The interns decided we wanted time to chill and just hang out together, so 5 out of the 7 of us went to Destiny's house to enjoy pizza and a couple of movies, by the time the movies were over and I took some people home, I got home around 11:15.

Day 5 (Saturday)
This was the longest hardest day of the week, I thought personally, We cleaned the ENTIRE church for the first time as a group of interns, with some of the meetings that we had and our lunch break, it took us roughly 6 to 7 hours to clean the ENTIRE church. Although it was long, and very hot in the church we did everything as a group and for most of the time the 7 of us got to bond and hang out and just really learn a lot about us and our lives. Even though it was long it was a really good day. :)

Day 6 (Sunday)
Our first Sunday as interns together. We were there at 8, had a meeting with Jared, and then got to go to a big prayer meeting with the entire church staff and leaders. It was really great seeing the leaders all join together for prayer, supporting one another through there hard times. I was able to attend 1st service for my spiritual food, it was a great message by Pastor Bryan as our lead Pastor (Pastor Jess) is at a conference. The message was about Stress, trials, and difficulties. It was absolutely amazing, and a great message for me as I am a big stress person and going into the internship can cause me to stress. 2nd service, I worked back in Hope Kids, on the registration, Clocking students in and taking them to there classes. After Church was over, we had a quick meeting with Jared, and we were done for the rest of the day and Monday we have off.

So theres an Update on my first week of the internship. Thanks again for looking at my blog!

 Love you guys!

Day 2

So day 2 is not quite complete yet we still have youth group tonight, so but the beginning of my day started out running errands before having to go to work, then getting to work Cleaning, I will put pictures up to show what are day looked like and what we cleaned. It was a good day and the sun was out so I think that by the end of the week I should have a really good tan. All the interns worked really well together, we were assigned about a dozen projects and all the big projects we worked together to get it done like the back bedroom and the outside working and throwing the garbage away and then we figured out what little projects were left and split them up, so instead of being there for 8 hours we were there for 4. SO overall it was a great day. :) I am quite thankful to be in this internship and the people that are also interning.

The rose that you saw up above, was out in the middle of the wood pile ready for burning and I looked at the rose and my mind started to turn, thinking about this rose made me apply it to life. Even though our lives get to be so ugly and so horrible (like the wood pile), sometimes we cant even stand how bad our lives are, we wonder why God is putting us through it, we think that it isn't fair  but then something beautiful happens (like the rose) and we understand the reasoning of why God put us through it and after a trial our lives turn into something that's beautiful and absolutely breath taking. So if your going through a hard time right now, stand strong and know that God is working not only in you but the people around you. He is working in everything in life all around you, and he will bring something beautiful, like the rose, into your life.

Thats all that I have for now!

Thanks for looking and reading my blog!

 Love you all,

Day 1 Internship 2011

Well, day one is complete. We started at the house that the girls will be living at, since there was electrical, bathrooms, and roofing to be done all the interns started outside, we weeded, trim trees, raked, clean the gutters, raked leaves, swept the roof to get all the moss off, and then sprayed everything with weed killer, bug killer, and moss killer. We also took off paneling in the kitchen, cleaned out the fridge, cleaned the stove, swept the kitchen floor, put the dishes in a box, threw the leftover food away, and cleaned the counters. Our leadership team (Interns) worked so well that we were off earlier than what was set for us to get off at. I absolutely love everyone in the internship and think that we are going to make a great team. Since the electrical, bathrooms and roofing will still need to be worked on tomorrow, there may not be much we can do inside the house. We still need to figure out the garage and clean all that out, since that will turn into our lounge, we need to paint both inside and out, we will need to clean all the bedrooms, clean the living room, clean the windows, and much more, but thats hard to do when there is 7 interns plus workers trying to get all the bathrooms done and more, so there may not be a lot that we can do. Although we've run into these problems, I'm thankful that we all get to spend time and grow together and learn more about the others. I can't wait to start painting, and to get the house done. I think the house has a lot of potential to look very nice and be a very cute house for more interns to come.

Well I think thats about it for tonight!

Thanks for reading, Love you guys!

Time

Well time seems to be running out fast till I start the internship program at my church. I cant believe I only have 4 days left till I start. Funny how sometimes we wish time would slow down to enjoy the moments, but all it seems to do is speed up, but when we want time to speed up to see what is going to happen next, like turning to the next page of a book, wanting and craving to find out whats going to happen next, but all we get is time slowing down, taking its sweet time to show us something we need to see. Funny how God shows us what we need to see, through something so big as time. Timing seems to be amazing and has always been perfect in our lives. I look back upon my life and I laugh and see what I wanted to do but seeing how God worked it out makes me realize everything he did in my life was perfect timing and I couldn't have asked for it to be anything better, since it is Gods perfect timing. It makes me laugh how in the moment we say that God this needs to be right now and if it doesnt happen right now, we are in so much trouble. Then God brings whatever we need and then looking back we say God knows best and God brought it in his perfect timing.

I often wonder if the internship will go by fast or slow. Will there be times where God will slow down time and show me something that he wants me to see. Will there be times were God, may speed up just a little to show us something on the other side to help us grow.

All I have to say is Im really excited but really nervous to see what God will do in my life this coming year :)

 Wish me Luck

Last Week before the Starting of a New Life!

So this is my last week before starting the internship, I'm starting to get really excited but really nervous too. As I sit here and relax, my mind continues to sit here and wander, thinking of what lies ahead of me, what Jesus has to teach me, as I will be constantly learning from him and the leader around me, as well as growing more in the Lord. Even though my life is completely in the Lords hands, its still hard not to wonder what he has planned for my life and whats in store for my future! I've talked with so many people about God, and how they learned to trust him, but even in the most difficult situation its hard to believe that God has this set plan for our lives and he will guide us through all the horrible situations. If there is one thing that I have learned its that even when I'm walking through the most horrible storms, God is always right there beside me, holding my hand and guiding us through it all. I know that throughout the internship, I will learn that trusting the Lord is the only thing I will have, even when the times get tough he will be guiding me and be standing right there beside me.

As much as I think about what God has planned for me and my future, I know that I will learn as I go and that God is the only one who knows what is planned, for my life. So I do my best to sit here and to enjoy the week that I have with my family. I t was really a great day today. We went swimming, sun bathing, took a short nap, watch a movie and went on a boat ride. Id definitely have to say that I'm in paradise and I love it!

Well thats all I have for now!

 Love you guys!

Still packing! :)

Well, I'm 2 weeks from starting the internship and 3 and half weeks from moving into the intern house. I'm still very excited for this new adventure that is going to be coming my way and a new start to another part of my life, but I am also very nervous. I often wonder if the things that have happened in my life, have helped me to where i am today, prepared me for the future of my life. I was once told that you cant look to the future, if you don't have a handle on what is happening in the moment, But do we ever have a handle on what's going on right now? I don't think we do, were only human, only God knows whats going to happen in our life. He has a perfect set plan for all of us, and its our choice weather we choose to follow in his perfect will, or his second plan for us. God knows whats going to happen before we even get into the situation. Ive often dreamed, like other girls my age of what my future will be like, who my husband will be, if i will have kids, if  Ill be as great of a mother as my mother was to me, but I know that God will take care of me, he has provided this far. My trust is all in the Lord. While at Camp, we were told that we had to embrace our place. For the longest time, I was mad at God, for putting me in the situations that he has put me in, wondering why. Why God did you let this happen? Why am I the one going through it? Looking back now, I know why, I know that I was put through it for a purpose, for a reason, to help people, to encourage people. I think it will be the same way with the Internship, Ill often wonder why I'm being put in the situations that are yet to come, Ill get upset with God, and myself, and my co workers, but once I'm done, I will look back and say I now know why that situation happened. I will grow, I will stretch, I will be challenged, but in the end I will know more about not only who I am in me, but who I am in Christ. I believe that after the internship, I will know my purpose of being on this earth. What God wants me to do in this life, weather it is to be a missionary, a Bible Teacher, or a Sharks Biologist. At the end I will know, I will think of the moment that I am and wait for what God has to say, for my future.

That's my little update for now.

 Love always and many Blessings.

The start of the move! Day 1 of Packing!

So Ive started packing and my room looks like a bomb has exploded as you can see above!, from coming back from camp and having to do 3 loads of laundry and starting to pack and organize for me to move into the intern house on August 15th, and for packing a suitcase so I can go to my moms for a week and a half, my room is very unorganized! My feelings are for sure quite nervous about moving once again, which is really weird since, Ive moved a lot through out my life, but to be in with all girls and having to be with these girls 24/7 makes me a little nervous. Its for sure something that I have never done before! I'm also very excited and ready to be used, stretched and grow in God. I'm excited to learn more about the people that I will be working with and the people who attend our church! So there is all these emotions running through me but I know that God, will always watch out for me and help through my rough and easy  situations. After all, My God is Greater, My God is Stronger, My God is higher than any other! He is with me in everything that I do and every where I go!

Well that's all for now, just keeping you guys updated!
